Therapy Dog Support Workshop

While Therapy Dog work is highly rewarding, it can also bring on a complex set of emotional and physical aspects for your pup.

This workshop will delve into how to assist your dog through encounters in the CIC therapy setting. Topics will include how to manage your dog's feelings about being in close proximity to other dogs, how to refocus their attention during exciting or novel situations, and how to advocate for your dog if they are showing signs of uncertainty. We'll touch on some lesser known dog body language that might indicate a dog is feeling nervous so we can redirect their attention. We will also discuss some common human behaviors that can be uncomfortable for dogs, such as leaning over their heads, direct eye contact or touching their tail, and how to manage them if they happen. You'll also learn how to condition your dog to be more understanding that these things are nothing to worry about!

This workshop is taught by a Fear Free certified dog care professional.
